// History

Traditional friendlyness

The mountain hut Fodara Vedla dates back to the era before the First World War, when the Austrians, who administered the area at the time, built a little village on the plateau which carries the same name.

Once WWI was over, my grandfather, Giovanni Mutschlechner, who worked as a baker in San Vigilio di Marebbe, bought the hut from the soldiers and turned it into a summer house for his family.

In 1936 board and lodging was first offered to the guests who began to spend their holidays in the area. For this purpose, the house was fitted with 12 beds and central heating.

With the arrival of the Second World War this activity came to an end. In 1947 the little chapel of Saint Anthony, the protector of the cattle, was built.

Fodara Vedla - Geschichte

Our parents, Ida and Albert Mutschlechner, spared no effort to make the hut a most comfortable and beloved refuge for the growing number of guests.

Today's building dates back to 1979, when it was fitted with 32 beds in guestrooms with/without en suite bathrooms as well as common bathrooms. The old part of the refuge offers sleeping accomodation for 14 people in a common room.
